My Safe Place...everytime I get raped or violated

In all the research, conversations, documentaries, and books, most long term and some short term human trafficked victims survive by a disassociation that occurs in the mind. This could be brought about by the victim voluntarily or forced by the trauma. To some it’s known as the Safe Place. A location in the mind created where time is spent in order to get through the trauma and survive. That was the inspiration behind this digital creation. It felt and made sense to create it this way.

These are two of many conditions and disorders created by Human Trafficking.  PTSD is the most common. A disorder in which a person has difficulty recovering after experiencing or witnessing a terrifying event. The condition may last months or years, with triggers that can bring back memories of the trauma accompanied by intense emotional and physical reactions.

DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) is common among sexual abuse. Dissociative identity disorder, previously called multiple personality disorder, is usually a reaction to trauma as a way to help a person avoid bad memories. Dissociative identity disorder is characterized by the presence of two or more distinct personality identities. Each may have a unique name, personal history, and characteristics.
